Korakrit takes you to a fun, fun place.

Walking into a room full of neon colors, black lights and stuffed animals might make you think you think you went back in time to the early 90s. However, it is more likely, and much more exciting that you are in the middle of a Korakrit installation (jock jams included). The Brooklyn based, Thai artist, who studied printmaking at Rhode Island School of Design, creates wonderful worlds full of mystical animals, bright colors and memories that reflect on the artists’ goal to “take you to this fun, fun place.”
When Korakrit works he is not simply creating a piece to look at, he is creating an experience. His animated lines brings the audience into a world that is moving with them. There is no passive audience.
The viewer is not the only one who interacts with the pieces. Korakrit introduces a high level of physicality while making his art work — he pushes, stands and jumps on screens as he makes prints. These actions make his pieces seem like something in between “fighting and dancing.”
If you want to learn more about Korakrit’s process, keep an eye out for an exclusive interview, right here on Curbs and Stoops. Also, stay tuned for an limited edition print with Curbs and Stoops coming out in the near future. You can check out Korakrit’s work on his website here.
