Dreamers
![]() www.hyunchoosung.com Artist Statement“This is an ongoing, growing collection of cyanotypes of dust from underneath dreamers’ beds. Each cyanotype is catalogued with the subject’s dream. Cyanotyping is a camera-less photographic printing process that requires sunlight to embed an image onto paper. Cyanotypes were used by botanists to study plants, and by architects to create blueprints. I would be grateful if you could mail me a palmful (or more) of dust from underneath your bed that I can cyanotype, along with a sentence or two describing something you dreamt last night. The dust cannot be classified without a dream and your name. I’d like to eventually make a video installation using the final collection. Thank you to the very few people who are not bored or scared by conversations about dreams we’ve had in sleep.” About the ArtistHyunch Sung is currently pursuing her Master’s in Landscape Architecture at RISD. The crazy thing was that as soon as the cacti were out of dirt they immediately began to deteriorate. So we were in this mad race to get them from bad dirt to good dirt. The amazing thing was that I could pick up the cacti and not get pricked by them and when one fell to the ground and almost died in ten seconds, I picked it up and started to rejuvenate.” |
