Jana Brike x Distinction Gallery
May 14th, 2011 by Pedro Matos
Distinction Gallery and ArtHatch present a compelling new show featuring the extraordinary work of Latvian artist Jana Brike, entitled “Book of Taboo”. Drawing inspiration from children’s books, Soviet animation, Russian realism, and Renaissance masters, Jana Brike will be exhibiting brand new paintings and drawings created specifically for this show. Using haunting, dream-like, subtle images, Brike achieves a poetic and magical symbolism of the bizarre and complicated world that surrounds us. Jana Brike will be attending the show with combined support from ArtHatch and the government of Latvia who is extremely impressed with her art. Coinciding with the show, Jana Brike will be participating in a Q&A Session the evening of the reception on Saturday May 14, 2011 from 6 – 7 pm at *ArtHatch, formerly Distinction. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, May14, 2011 from 6-10pm with Live Music, complimentary Stone Brewery Beer and wine for guests 21 years of age or older.
